Claire Farrell produces deceptively naive works that belie the amount of time, effort and love that go into each of her jewellery pieces. Every item is the fruit of a Herculean endeavour: months pass in the wait for pre-1950s buttons to arrive from their source in America, days are spent sorting the buttons once they arive on the other side of the world in Perth and hours are devoted to the search for the perfect combination that will make up a brooch or cuff. Although the colour schemes seem similar in a number of works, each piece remains a one-off. These really are a labour of love: the result of blood, sweat and tears. Minus the blood and sweat.
