Born in Transylvania, Valentin Tinc developed an early passion for art and design thanks to his rich and historic surroundings. He continued this as he grew - despite his father's pleas to become a doctor - and in 1991 graduated from the Romania Academy of Visual Arts.

Following extensive exhibitions across Germany and Romania, Valentin emigrated to New Zealand, where he expanded his horizons both in terms of inspiration and by becoming a teacher of his craft, first at Christchurch Design and Art College, and then UnitTec in Auckland.

Now Valentin in established in Melbourne, where he teaches design at the prestigious Whitehouse Design Institute. Under his brand, valentindesign, he creates witty, playful and functional design pieces for the home that are very effective at capturing imaginations.
